This is a project near to my heart. Amelia’s (better known as “Millie”) father, Brady and I have been friends since our first year of high school and he was my best man at my wedding. You could say we go way back. I still remember the day I got the call with the news that his little Millie had been diagnosed with Leukemia. I was devastated for him and his young family and felt helpless for what I could do to help. Finally the opportunity came. Brady’s wife Amanda asked if I would be willing to design some t-shirts for a CureSearch Cancer walk to raise money for childhood cancer. I jumped at the opportunity. My love of designing with type is what inspired the design, similar to my IT t-shirt design.

I wish with all my heart that I could say little Millie was still proudly wearing her Team Amelia shirt, but she passed away in June 2013. It was at that time that, I received the greatest honor I have had as a graphic designer, and was asked to design a funeral program for our hero Millie. I was humbled and hope that I did her wonderful and courageous life justice. Out of respect for Millie and her family, I have chosen not to post images of the program.
